We're not in the business of selling your data. We are in the business of making wallpapers, and we collect data to run that business well.

What We Collect

When you use gifPaper (the app or the website), we may collect:

• Device identifier (anonymous hardware UUID) — to manage your license and trial
• Usage data — which wallpapers you use, how you interact with the app
• Basic analytics — app version, macOS version, general usage patterns
• Website analytics — pages visited, referral source, general browsing behavior
• Language preference — to serve you content in your language
• Review submissions — the name, message, and optional email you send us at /review

This isn't an exhaustive list. We may collect other operational data as needed.

Why We Collect It

• License management — so your purchase works and freeloaders don't get a free ride
• Product improvement — to know which wallpapers people love and which ones flop
• Running the business — understanding where visitors come from, what content resonates, and where we should focus our efforts
• Support — to help you when something breaks

Payment Data

Payments are handled by Polar. We don't see or store your credit card details. We receive your email, transaction ID, and country for order management.

Reviews

If you leave a review at gifpaper.com/review, we store the name, the message, and the email address if you give one. Reviews are stored on our own server, not with a third-party service.

Nothing appears on the site until you tick the consent box and we approve it. The email address is never published — it's only there so we can reply. Want a published review taken down? Email us and it's gone.

Analytics

We use third-party analytics services including Google Analytics, PostHog, and Simple Analytics to understand how people find and use gifPaper. This data helps us figure out what's working and what isn't. We don't sell this data or use it for advertising.

These services may set cookies and collect browsing data according to their own privacy policies. We encourage you to review them if you're curious.

Cookies

The website uses cookies for basic functionality and analytics. Our analytics providers (Google Analytics, PostHog) set their own cookies. You can block these with your browser or an ad blocker — gifPaper will still work fine.

Data Storage

Your data is stored securely. We use industry-standard practices. We're a small company — we don't have time to be evil, we're too busy making wallpapers.

Your Data

We don't have much. An anonymous device UUID for your license, order details stored by Polar, and aggregated analytics. You can deactivate your license from your Polar dashboard. Otherwise there's not much to delete.

If You Don't Like This

If you're uncomfortable with any of this, don't use gifPaper. We'll be fine. We'll just sit here. In the dark. With our wallpapers. At least they'll never leave us.
